Description: Leiden, Johannes du Vivie, 1717. 8vo. [xxviii], 608 pp. Full calf. (binding damaged; hinges splitting;small marginal hole in one leaf) Graevius, professor in Utrecht, was famous for his oratory talent. His was the task at the university to pronounce the latin orations. The speeches here collected include his inauguration 'Pro literis', 'De cometis', and mostly obituaries, i.a. of Schelius, Moreelse, Mansveld, Diemerbrock, Fr.Burman, Mary Stuart, and prince William III. The last speech in this collection is the obituary speech on Graveius by Petrus Burman. A re-issue of this edition was published by A.Beman, Delft, in 1621.
