Author: COLOMESIUS, Paulus. Title: Opuscula.
Description: Utrecht, Petrus Elzevier, 1669. 12mo. (12, 7x7, 4 cm.). [xii], 276 pp. Laced vellum (binding stained) - small price and date annotation on first blank: "0-2, 27 - 9 - 1733". ¶ Paul Colomiès (1638-1692), French Huguenot, came with Isaac Vossius to Holland. He later went to England and was librarian at Lambeth Palace. In these Opuscula he inserted a Clavis to the letters of Scaliger, identifying a number of persons who were mystified in the original edition of 1627. He adds similar keys to the editions of the letters of Casaubon (1638) and of the letters of Salmasius (1656). He further deals with a wide range of topics and authors, i.a. Theophylactus, Iamblichus, Isocrates, and notes on Quintillianus. ¶ Petrus Elzevier is the least productive of the Elzevier family; only 10 titles were published by him in the years 1668-1675; see for his life Willems pp.CCLIII-CCLIX; ¶ Willems 1600: "Volume positivement imprimé par Daniel Elsevier et le seul, à notre connaissance, dont Pierre Elzevier ait confié l'exécution à son parent." Rahir 1774, not in Coll.Broman. Second edition, first published in Paris 1668.
