(wrappers damaged and restored; large stamps of the Brussels bookseller Louis De Meuleneere on cover and half-title) - ADDED: List of results (5 pp.). ¶ Auction from 4 to 7 Mai 1914. The catalogue lists 611 lots; "A carefully selected treasure of extremeley rare, important and beautifully printed books." (Piet Buijnsters, p.118). The Elzevier editions are interspersed on subject. An Erasmus edition in Grolier binding fetched 7050 Francs, a Nic.Heinsius edition of Vergil on large paper with Heinsius' manuscript dedication to the Dauphin of France, in a luxury binding by Magnus 8000 Francs., an Ogier le Danois edition of 1525 the sum of 8950 Francs, and four early Dutch works: Historie van den grooten Koning Alexander (1488), Historie van der destucion van Troyen (ca.1500), Reynaert de Vos (1485) and Historie van Jason en Hercules (1521), nicknamed the "Rembrandts of the book world" 32.600 Francs together. The total result of this auction was 317.057 French Francs.
