The Disputatio theologica was banned by the Deventer magistrates, and both Jacobus Revius and Jacobus Trigland heavily disputed this work - even accused Wedel of arminian tendencies. (NNBW X.1076). Maccovius was married to Antje van Uylenburgh, the sister of Rembrandts wife Saskia van Uylenburgh.
