(Title-page damaged, with some loss; two small marginal tears; slightly trimmed; missing p.19-23: the latin-dutch word-list and errata; the folding table added in facsimile) ¶ Hendrik Laurensz. Spieghel (1549-1612) was a moderate catholic merchant from Amsterdam. An active member of the Chamber of Rhetoric "In Liefde Bloeyende" he published four tracts on the use and goal of the rhetoricians movement ("Twe-Spraack van de Nederduitsche Letterkunst", "Ruyghbewerp van de Redenkaveling", "Rederijck-kunst" are the other three.). Spieghel dedicated this booklet to Jan van Hout, secretary of the city of Leiden ¶ Adams S-1581; BT 4283.
