Gisbert Cuper (1644-1716), burgomaster of the city of Deventer, was a man of great erudition. This collection consists of 54 letters to Mr. La Croze, 52 letters to the Abbé Bignon, 24 letters to Jean Le Clerc, a letter from Basnage to Cuper and 11 letters from Cuper to Basnage, 8 letters to the Abbé Nicaise, 6 letters to Mr Martin, Huguenot pastor in Utrecht, 4 letters to Mr. Jurieu, (all these letters in french). And in latin: 13 letters to Antonius van Dalen, and 12 letters from Petrus Daniel Huet to Cuper.
