(small burn hole in 1 leaf; slightly browned; endpaper repaired; old owners entries, partly erased; small stamp on title; one plate (plate F) missing. ¶ Handbook of the exact sciences, discussing arithmetics, geometrics, astronomy, astrology, timereckoning, geography, horography, mechanics, warfare, music etc. Schott taught mathematics in Würzburg, where this handbook was first published in 1661.The introductory poem and the concluding Theoreses mechanicae novae are by the hand of the great polish jesuit scientist Adam Adamandy Kochanski, who stayed in Würzburg with Schott in 1655, and was ten years later professor of mathematics in Mainz. ¶ Sommervogel VIII/p.907-908 (Schott) & IV/p.1139-1140 (Kochanski).
