(binding a bit soiled) - First edition. ¶ Jacobus Crucius or La Croix, 1579-1655, was rector of the Latin School in Delft. The Suada is a collection of rhetorical exemples with didactic content, for edification of young people. These orations were pronounced by a number of pupils, i.a. Johannes Maurus (Arabus), the famous Moroccon convert, baptised in Delft in 1643, who later studied theology in Leiden.
