Quarter-roan with raised bands and title on spines, marbled boards. (slight marginal worming in first 20 pp.of vol.1; minimal tear in one leaf of vol.4; library stamps on first blanks; partly somewhat browned/age toned) - a good untrimmed set. ¶ Impressive collection of letters by, to and on Christina of Sweden, list of commemorative medals, lists of correspondents, edition of her autobiography and of her works 'Ouvrage de Loisir', and 'Reflexions sur la vie et les actions de César', of 'La Pastorale d'Endymion' by Alexandre Guidi, panegyrics by J.Freinsheim and E.Spanheim, exhaustive list of panegyrics by others, etc.etc. ¶ Johan Arckenholtz (1695-1777), for twenty years librarian to the landgrave of Hessen-Cassel, was appointed historiographer to the Swedish king in 1666.
