Description: Venice, In aedibus Aldi (Decas quinta: Haeredes Aldi) et Andreae soceri, december 1518- february 1519 - november 1520 - may 1533 - march 1521. 8vo (15, 6x9 cm.). In 4 vols. [lvi], 365, [7]-[lvi], 350, [6]-[lvi], 296.131, [5]-56, 310, [1] lvs. Full red morocco, double filets, floral borders, corner pieces, inner dentelles, edges gilt, marbled endpapers. (spines expertly repaired; a few old annotations washed out, leaving light smudges, one front cover slightly rubbed; small worming in inner margin of first 70 pp. of vol.4. One quire (leaf 49-56) in Decas Quarta missing) ¶ Provenance: Bookplate of Viscount Mersey, Bignor Park. ¶ Rare set of the Aldine Livius' edition, all volumes in beautiful bindings. The decas quinta (publ.in 1533) bound after decas quarta (publ.in 1520). "Andreas Asulanus, the father-in-law of Aldus, published this edition, which is taken from certain MSS. and the Mentz edition.
