Description: Delft, A. Beman, 1728. 4to (25, 5x19, 6cm). [cxxii], 802[=804], [214=index] pp. With frontispiece (by B. Bernards after F. Ottens / L.F. Dubourg) and 2 small numismatic engravings. Speckled calf, richly gilt spine w.morocco title-shield. (spine strengthened along the hinges; binding slightly chafed; small damage on front cover; a few quires are a bit browned; with ample margins) ¶ "E libris Jacobi Harris 1738" and a few shelfmarks written on paste-down (might this be the bibliophile and grammarian James Harris (1709-1780) from Salisbury?) ¶ "A very elaborate and celebrated edition."(Dibdin II.399); but: "wenig befriedigenden und häufig vorkommenden, aber doch von den Sammlern gesuchten Ausg."(Ebert 20942). Schweiger II.941. Johann Caspar Schröder (1695-1759) was rector of the Latin Schools of Middelburg, Utrecht, and lastly Delft.
