Description: Madrid, Imprenta Real, etc. 1716-1717. Large 8vo. 6 volumes, totalling 3735 pp. Overlapping limp parchment binding, slightly soiled and wrinkled. Remnants of ties on front and back cover. With jesuit title vignet. (Interior age-toned; some fly-leaves spotted, some page-downs damaged and a few spines loosening. With library stamps of a jesuit college.) With owner's entry dated 1717, indicating this book to be used in the refectory of the Company's house in Valladolid. ¶ Pedro de Ribadeneira, 1527-1611, was a Spanish first-generation jesuit, author, ascetic and the first and most significant biographer of St. Ignatius of Loyola.
