(spine rubbed, library sticker on front cover, stamp on fly leaf; 18th cent.ms.annotation of fly leaf; MEDIOCRE COPY: title page partly mounted in parts and partly missing, first leaves bottom margin mounted with loss of a few words, vague waterstain throughout; leaves 108 and 109 missing. ¶ The Vita, probably by archbishop Reginald Pole, preceded by the dedication by Bernard Giunti. Adams L1443. ¶ Longolius (Christophe de Longueil, 1490-1522), was born in Mechelen, and studied jurisprudence in Valence. He became a lawyer in 1511, and served from 1513 as an official in Paris. He also served as a tutor to a young King Francis I of France.[1] He had given up law to study classical literature. Later he traveled around Europe, finally settling in Padua, where he died in 1522.
