Folio. 509, (5) pp. Rebacked halfcloth (boards worn; a bit loosening; a few pp.printed in red and black, numerous woodcuts in the text, uncut copy on large paper) - vol.3 of 4. The library of Lord Spencer was one of the finest collections ever. Spencer died in 1834, but his library remained in the house at Althorp until 1892. Mrs John Rylands aquired the library in that year and donated it to the city of Manchester, where it forms the nucleus of the John Rylands University Library.
