Angelo Gallucci (1593-1674) trad in 1606 toe tot de Sociëteit van Jezus en doceerde vervolgens 24 jaar lang welsprekendheid aan het Collegium Romanum te Rome. Behalve religieuze en literaire werken schreef hij deze geschiedenis van de oorlogen in de Nederlanden tussen 1593 en 1609, die hij opdroeg aan koning Karel II van Spanje, achterkleinzoon van Filips II. ¶ Provenance: Red stamp of the "Libreria Colonna" and stamps of the Gymnasium in Katwijk and the "Aloysius-College" in The Hague.
