The maps and sketches are by the early surveyors, explorers and sealers. The photos are of the early settlements, sheep stations and sawmills. There are unpublished photos of the tin mining settlement at Port Pegasus, the only one in New Zealand. There is a complete set of photos of the early island ferries and of the Norwegian whalers who were based on the island. He has added his firsthand descriptions to the text. ISBN: 0908629427.
