Title: Edwardian Wellington
Description: Exposures 2009 Softcover, 155pp. The work of Joseph Zachariah reflects social customs during the first decade of the 20th century. There were two things that shaped his career as a photographer. The first was the pomp and ceremony of events in Wellington such as New Zealand being declared a Dominion in 1907. This ushered in the Edwardian era. The ubiquitous postcard made its appearance then and enthralled everyone as something that was eminently collectable. Zachariah capitalised on this situation by issuing limited editions of real photo postcards, which featured all manner of activities and events. Because of their ephemeral nature, Zachariah's postcards are now hard to locate and seldom turn up in our picture libraries. It was only through a network of postcard enthusiasts that this book became a reality. previous owner's name written on first page. (ISBN: 9780959783612). Good.
