Title: Memories of Steam on the North Island Main Trunk
Description: J. A. Murphy 1976 Paperback. Introduction: The railway between Auckland and Wellington is New Zealand's biggest main line. It passes through rugged country, with steep grades, frequent curves, and tall viaducts. Steam locomotives were the biggest in service and worked the hardest. The pages that follow depict the steam power which hauled all the traffic on the Main Trunk for nearly half a century. The emphasis is on the 1950's and early 1960's when steam haulage reached its peak, just as the diesel invasion took place. Some light fading, marking and wear on cover. Good.
