On 16 October 1815 King William I appointed him lector on surgery and obstetrics in the Academic Hospital; he was confirmed in this office by Napoleon.' He enriched the 'anatomical and pathological collections with many preparations; ... ': A description of surgical operations executed at the Groningen hospital in the years 1810 - 1815, among which treatment of (gall & kidney) stones, cataract, amputation of limbs, 'over het wegnemen der ballen' ['Castratio'].
