I and possibly atlasvolume half title cut out.). Good copy of this 4th edition on elementary physics by Péclet, who was especially known for his researches in electricity and electric lighting. Born Besançon 1793 - died 1857. Author of a.o. 'Cours de Chimie 1823 - 1826', 'Cours de Physique' [later eds. under the name 'Traité élémentaire de physique'] (1823 - 1826; 1830 - 1831; 1837; 1847 (here offered)), Traité de l'éclairage' (1827). Together with Fournier he determined conductivity of various substances to 100 Degrees Celsius in 1841; Furthermore he constructed a condensor and a galvanometer, 1838 - 1841. Poggendorf, vol.
