Description: Very nice original 17th c. mezzotint engraving, before all letters, by Blooteling after A. Brouwers. Meas. appr. 28 x 20.5 cm. Blank lower margin of appr. 4 cm. Cut inside platemarks, professionally laid down on new 5 cm wide blank margins. Wurzbach Vol. I, p. 120, item 97: Wessely, Abraham Blooteling, Verzeichniss seiner Kupferstiche (leipzig, 1867), 'Schabkunst' item 97: 'Der Mann mit der Filzmütze über den Haube' [Man with felt hat]. Wessely cites a signed state of this print w. the text 'A.Brouwer p.' [to the left] and 'AB. fecit et ex.' [to the right].
