I, pp. 124 - 125: Alpinus (1553 - 1616) was managing director of the botanical gardens at Padua. 'The "Praesagienda vita" is a detailed study of prognostics in which attention is devoted to the patient's mental state and its bearing on health, as well as to the usual physical and diagnostic signs.': G&M 2194 (ed 1601): 'A classical work on prognosis': Norman coll. vol.
