The Museum is complemented by the collections of Zeiss, Zeiss-Ikon and Voigtlander, as well as the collection of the Viennese court optician, Waldstein. The most beautiful examples of these collections are illustrated in this Atlas. ... The main part of the Museum for optical instruments at Oberkochen is a collection of spectacles. They are arranged in such a way that their development can be followed in a number of ways, for instance riveted spectacles, pince-nez, wire-rimmed spectacles, spectacles with side bars, spectacles with curved ear pieces or spectacles of wood, leather, fish bone, horn, acetate, wire or of precious metal.': Vol. 2 '... presents a variety of spectacles as illustrated in paintings, etchings sculptures, etc.'.
