(Contemp. owner's inscr. in ink on first printed title.). Very good copy. Second edition 1618 [first 1606]. V.d.Aa vol. VI, pp. 126-127: Jöcher vol. III, p. 700: Popma [... -died 1621] was a linguist and lawyer from Friesland. In this, his chief work, he presents a lexicon of synonyms w. quotes from classical authors. The 2nd publication, 'De usu....' with seperate titlepage. Both books were first published in Antwerp, 1606, and were still in print at the end of the 18th c.: Early Giessen imprint.
