Originally published in 1785/6, this is probably a 4th edition., the third with the plates by Meil. Good copy of this Instruction book or manual for actors.:Depicting all manners of expression for actors: anger, compassion, contemplation, disappointment, etc. Also of importance for the history of costume.: Lipperheide Uce2: Nagler vol. X, pp. 49 - 51: '... ausgezeichnete Künstler... Trefflich sind seine physiognomischen Bilder, die er zu Engel's Mimik fertigte, ... Meils Blätter sind sehr zart radiert, er arbeitete aber meistens für Buchhändler.': Dorn, pp. 447 - 481: Comp. Goedeke, V, 474, 13: Lanckoronska-Oehler, II, 84: 'Die Blätter Meils, die den Schauspieler in Posen jeder Art, zornig, sanftmütig, schlaff, nachdenklich, empört, anbetend und vieles mehr zeigen, sind von großer Ausdruckskraft.
