I, p. 405: Wellcome vol III, p. 44: Forti was among the first medical men to experiment with blood transfusion in man in Europe. In this book see pp. 263, chapter 44, Centuria II. 'The first transfusion of blood in man was made on 15 june 1667, ...[the 5th transfusion] had been made by Denis, on 10 February 1668.., after this the practice of transfusion faded out as suddenly as it had begun.' (See DSB vol. IV "Denis, Jean Baptiste" p. 37 - 38).
