Hoogvliet translated Jean Louis Petit into Dutch 'Verhandeling van de ziekten der beenderen': Friend and translator of A. v. Leeuwenhoek: Haller II, 147: Blake 220, (2nd. ed. only): BMN I, 490: DMB 902: 'Johannes Hoogvliet was a surgeon living at Delft in the first half of the 18th c. He was a friend of Antoni van Leeuwenhoek who, at his [death bed] asked him to care for the translation and sending some letters to the Royal society. He wrote a book on coroner's inquest and translated a book on bone diseases: 'Kunst om Wonden te schouwen...'[here offered].
