'The Count of Schaumbourg-Lippe was in command of the British troops sent to Portugal in 1761. He was made a field marshal of the Portuguese army. He reorganized the army, instituted regulations, built fortifications ... founded an artillery school...(was sent to Brazil and used the same regulations)....In fact the famous 'Regulamentos do Conde de Lippe', were still in force in the Brazilian Army until 1895.
