DSB Vol. XIII, pp/ 108 - 113: 'He participated in a number of chronometric expeditions,...in 1843/44 he conducted 2 other expeditions, between Pulkova and Altona and between Altona and Greenwich observatories. Struve's work brought him international fame, and he was a member of more than 40 scientific academies, learned societis and universities.': Pogg. II, 1036/7: Struve erected the Pulkova observatory and from there made new and accurate determinations of the constants of aberration etc. With his son Otto he made 2 expeditions to Altona and Greenwich to determine absolute time, comparison and correction of the chronometer etc. He wrote it all down in these reports. This report dedicated to Christian VIII of Denmark: Presentation copy to Bernhard August Von Lindenau, see DSB VIII, 369: '...., Director of the Gotha observatory ....Chief Minister of Saxe-Gotha -Altenburg (1820). Later he became Minister of the Interior of Saxony... Lindenau's importance for astronomy lies mainly in the tables of planets he produced for the calculation of the ephemerides of Mercury , Venus and Mars.
