[=....?]. Things seem to have gone wrong w. a particular publication St. Hillaire wanted to send to ... He blames it on the publisher and partly on himself. Best regards also from his father 'Mon père me charge de vous offrer ses compliments.'

Isidore Geoffroy Saint Hillaire [1805 -1861], French zoologist, son of the famous Etienne de St. Hillaire, Isidore showed a great apptness for mathematics, but eventually chose the path of natural history and medicine. Assistant to his father in 1824. Following in the footsteps of he father he further researched human anatomical 'monstrosities'for want of a better word, such as cyclops, double births, etc. Although his father is credited w. coining the word 'teratology', his son Isidore pursued this new avenue of medcine. His best known work on the subject was published 1832 - 1837 'Histoire generale et particulieres des anamolies de'l'organization chez l'homme et les animaux', quoted from by many among whom Darwin. Member of the Academy, 1833. See G&M, 34. 58 'Isidore, the son of Etienne, .. organized all known human and animal malformations taxonomically. Many principles governing abnormal development were enunciated for the first time in this work. It also introduced hundreds of names for specific malformations, many of which are still in use...'[G&M, p. 100]: Isidore was also founder of the 'Société zoologique d'acclimatation', founded 6 October 1854. Interesting letter showing the exchange of information on recently published scientific publications and those about to be published,
