DSB X, pp. 283/5: 'In 1766 he [Pallas] proposed the first known scheme to express the sequential development of animal organisms in terms of a family tree.': Nordenskiöld pp. 262/3: Pallas studied medicine at Göttingen, and at Leyden. At the latter University he got his degree with an essay on intestinal worms. He afterwards spent some years in Holland, working on the zoological collections from the tropics.: BMN vol.
