Contemp. full marbled clf., spine elaborately gilttooled w. floral ornaments. Covers w. a double giltruled line, floral handtool in each corner. Edges of covers giltruled. Brown titleshield, giltlett. Headbands in blue and white. (Top of spine some dam. to cap; upper outer hinge a little weakening, top 10 cm splitting.). [*4, 2nd*1, **4, ***4, ****3, A - Z4, Aa - Ll4]. (XXXII, 268, IV (index) pp.). (On extra quality paper.). (All edges red.). (Original and contemp. endp., but oddly enough another contemp. sheet of handmarbled paper is visible [ca 3 cm wide] to the extremities of the paste downs, as if there was a recasing at some time or as if the binder miscalculated the size of the marbled endp. needed, which seems unlikely.).
