Contemp. full vellum, title in ink on spine, covers and spine some surface soiling and spotting. (Covers warped; Turn ins thus under more stress & owing to this endp. partially splitting, upper endp. at top margin, lower endp. at all 3 sides.) [n2, A - Z2, Aa - Ee2; *4, **4, A - F4 (in this quire F2 misbound at position (F4), thus F1, F3, (F4), F2), G quire idem, H - Z4, Aa - Pp4 (Pp4 blank).]. First part in true 1st editon (Lindeboom mentions a 1674! reissue only), 2nd vol. in 2nd edition (which appeared at Leiden in 1674 for the first time). Lindeboom, DMB, C. 1276 - 1277: Christiaan Marggraff [1626 - 1687], younger brother of Georg, famous for his natural history work 'historia rerum naturalium brasil..'. Christiaan's fields of choice were medicine and chemistry. He studied at Leiden University and graduated MD at Franeker in 1659. He was never appointed professor or lector according to Lindeboom.
