(Watersp. lower margin on V3rv (pp. 158 - 159). Uiterst zeldzame uitgave. Het bestaan van een 2e tabel bij p. 1 kan niet worden bevestigd. De 'moet' in het papier bij de tabel tussen pagina's 28 en 29 komt niet voor bij p. 1. De STCN noemt ook slechts 1 tabel in het ex. in Leiden. Extremely rare edition, the existence of a second table cannot be confirmed. DSB vol. IX, pp. 335 - 337: NNBW vol. I, c. 1325 - 1329: Metius (1571 - 1635) came from a family of scholars. His father was a cartographer, military engineer and a well-known mathematician, Mayor of Alkmaar. collaborator of Jan Joost Beeldsnyder on Amsterdam's 'Uytlegginge' in the 16th century. His brother Jacob became an instrument maker and lense grinder in Alkmaar. Like his fellow townsman Blaeu, Adriaen worked under Tycho Brahe at his observatory. Adriaen became professor of mathematics at Franeker: BdH, Bouwstoffen I (1878), XII item 5 pp. 239 - 240, mentions no tables at all: BdH, bibliogr. item 3180 [no tables]: Hoogendoorn, Bibliography of the Exact sciences, p. 644, METIUS03, mentions 2 tables.: Willems, 67: according to Willems p. 24, item 67, the Arithmeticae contains 'deux tableaux pliés en regard des pp. 1 et 28 ...' Our copy with the folding table at p. 28-29 only, with a clear indentation in the paper. The 2nd folding table seems a 'ghost'. STCN Dutch mentions 1 folding table & single copies only at Amsterdam and Leiden. 2 integral digital copies [Lyon and Leiden] both with the one large folding table as in our copy. The Lyon copy w. the table at the end, the Leyden copy between pp. 18-19.
