I, p. 375: Wellcome II, 522: Stoeder 240 - 245: 'Deze schrijver - geb. in 1700 - was tevens verdienstelijk dichter en letterkundige. Het werk is samengesteld uit velerlei bronnen als het Antidotarium Weckeri, Romanum; het Armentarium Med. Chym. Mynzichti enz. enz." : NNBW: VIII, c. 468 - 470: according to NNBW born in Rotterdam 1717, Kornelis Elzevier was a man with a poet's heart and quite a literary figure. Biographically speaking Elzevier is a difficult man to trace, as was the case in the 18th c. The namelists of the apothecary's Guild in Amsterdam in the 18th c. does not mention Elzevier, although his second unchanged reprint of the Lexicon [1790] printed there mentions 'Apotheker en Chymist te Amsterdam'. A request from the Gouda Apothecaries in 1750 to form a Guild does not mention Elzevier. Stoeder in his history of pharmacy in the Netherlands praises the work of Elzevier and says that among the pharmaceutical literature available in the 18th c. Elzevier's 'Lexikon' deserves to be mentioned as an original and worthwhile publication.: Elzevier dies November 1768 in the proveniershuis at Haarlem.
