From the library of Leonard Bernstein [Sotheby Sale 7070, Lot #144], inscribed to him on the front endpaper by the Commissioner of Tourism: "Au Maitre Leonard Bernstein, en signe de bienvenue a Bruxelles, et en temoignage de ma tres vive admiration / [?] / Commissaire general du Tourisme / 22/8/1968".

The author writes in his introductory "Letters to a Friend": "My purpose, in these few pages, is to invite you to wander around in our provinces, from Flanders to Wallonia, from Wallonia to Flanders, through Brabant looking for that 'multiple splendor' of a country whose narrow borders make all the more astonishing its vast natural and artistic variety." . Good .
