Illustrated in black & white with 390 photographs & engravings. There is a small light stain to the fore-edge with a tiny tear to the front edge of the front endpaper. Very good in a fair dust wrapper. Revised and Expanded edition of the classic reference work. From the library of Hugh Townley, signed by him on the front endpaper: "Hugh Townley / Bristol R. I. Sept 1970". Sculptor and printmaker Hugh Townley [1923-2008] worked primarily in wood, but also made monumental outdoor works in concrete. He had over fifty one-man exhibitions in major museums and galleries and was represented in nearly one hundred group shows. In 1972 he received the Rhode Island Governor's Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Arts. He also had a distinguished teaching career, including posts at Beloit College, Boston University, Harvard, and Brown University, retiring from Brown as Professor Emeritus in 1989. Good .
