WOOLF, VIRGINIA - To the Lighthouse (Modern Library #217. 1)

Title: To the Lighthouse (Modern Library #217. 1)
Description: New York: The Modern Library / Random House, [c.1947]. Hardcover. A rather scarce Modern Library reprint edition of Virginia Woolf's famous 1927 novel, notable for the author's reliance on her principal characters' inner thoughts (in lieu of dialogue). This is the story of the Ramsays: Mrs. Ramsay, her husband Mr. Ramsay, and their children and guests as they visit their summer house on the Isle of Skye over a ten-year period in the early 20th century. Much of the story is concerned with a proposed visit to a nearby lighthouse, a visit which seemingly might never occur. With an introduction by Terence Holliday. Volume wrapped in jacket with image of the lighthouse to front panel. --- In Toledano spine 8 / light blue cloth / gilt titling on burgundy spine & cover blocks / red topstain / grey Kent endpapers / jacket style h, verso advertises 322 titles in ML catalog. Likely published c.1947 (though 1937 date appears in book).
