In "Bleak House" the author skewers the British legal system, using his imagined Jarndyce and Jarndyce absurdly protracted legal case in the Court of Chancery as a foundation. With 32 black & white engraved illustrations by an unattributed illustrator whose initials may be 'JBS.' --- In full green cloth-covered boards with spine titling and decorations in gilt. The books are undated, possibly published c.1880s-1920s. Volumes lack dust jackets. --- Some pages unopened, and some have tears as a consequence, and with mild rubbing to cloth, else a clean, unmarked tightly-bound set.
