With a color frontis illustration depicting a jousting tournament, plus numerous black & white illustrations scattered through the text and on gloss plates. The series of ten books was edited by Charles H. Sylvester and originally included an eleventh volume, in the form of a guide to the series. --- In light green buckram cloth-covered boards with cover & spine titling & decorations in gilt on darker green blocks. TEG (top edge gilt), with brown pictorial endpapers. --- With small creases to the corners of a few leaves, else an intact, sturdy and unmarked copy.; Octavo - 8 to 9 in. tall; viii, 485 pages. Very Good+ with no dust jacket .
