Includes the author's "Felix Krull" and "Death in Venice" among others. The German author often wrote highly symbolic stories that explored psychological themes. Stories translated from the German by H. T. Lowe-Porter, with a list of principal writings by the author at rear of volume and a preface by the author. Mann was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1929. Likely published c.1964 (though 1936 date appears in book. ML #G84.1. --- Apparently once the property of a US Navy ship's library, with faded rubberstamping to textblock top edge and 'MAN' written in ink on jacket spine, else a sound, well-preserved copy.
