Description: Denver: Golden Bell Press, 1968. First Edition. Hardcover. Number 138 of 497 copies of this signed, limited edition of a biography of business magnate James John Hagerman. Per the author's foreword, Hagerman is "Colorado's neglected tycoon" who built the Colorado Midland Railway, the first standard gauge railroad over the Colorado Rockies. In addition to the C.M.R, Mr. Hagerman made and lost fortunes in the states of Michigan, Wisconsin, Colorado and New Mexico on other business ventures. This work includes dozens of black & white photos and a fold-out original stock certificate of the Isabella Gold Mining Company of Cripple Creek, Colorado, signed by the son of J. J. Hagerman. Inscribed and signed on title page thusly: "For my gracious friend / Rudy Beeder / John J. Lipsey." Also with a postcard sent to Mr. Beeder of Wilmette, Illinois thanking the recipient for ordering two copies of this work and signed by Mr. Lipsey. --- In full reddish-brown leather-look paper-covered boards. Volume wrapped in red-orange jacket with black & white photographic portrait of Mr. Hagerman to front panel. --- The dust jacket has become attached to the book cover, possibly with adhesive and cannot be removed; also with some sunning to spine. Interior of book is tightly-bound and bright; exterior is protected in removable mylar wrapper.; Octavo - 8 to 9 in. tall; (16), 281 pages; Signed by Author. Very Good in Good+ dust jacket .
