Title: [Map] British Columbia
Description: Chicago, IL, George F. Cram Company, ND (c. 1883).A rolled, three colour, printed map measuring 34 x 56 cm,Showing the southern portion of the Province of British Columbia (which joined Confederation in 1871). The scale is about one inch to 42 miles. Determining the exact date of publication is problematic, although it was probably 1883, the year in which Cram's 'Family Atlas' was published. Latitude is shown in two calibrations: west from Washington and West from Greenwich. The map also shows railroad lines both in British Columbia and the district of Alberta, as well as townships in the latter. On the reverse side of the map are displayed various tables of religious affiliations throughout Canada, as well as tables of more commercial interest. The map is in good condition, although, since it has been stored rolled, it has a tendency to curl up when opened out. A previous owner has made several repairs at the centre fold with ordinary 'scotch' tape, now somewhat yellowed (not affecting map). .
