The book we are offering has a slight spine slant and a touch of discoloration to the outer edge of the front board. Faint former owner's name to top of front free endpaper. Erasure mark to rear pastedown. Binding tight. Contents unmarked. The dust jacket is torn and creased but virtually totally intact save for some small loss to the seam of a close tear at the top. It shows some scuffing with wear to the hinges. Two small red smudges to rear panel. Still in fair to good condition and now seldom seen. Top edge not stained green as stipulated by Lechowick, 'A Collector's Guide to L. M. Montgomery First Editions' (p. 113), but ten titles listed verso title page. Spadoni & Donnelly 1154 note that there are several apparent variants of the first edition, albeit later printings, as they bear a coloured frontispiece. Our copy does not have a frontispiece. However, it does have the publisher's original dust jacket, similar in appearance to that shown in 'Editions & Impressions / Collectors and Their Love of the Works of L. M. Montgomery' (which is the jacket for the first American edition). .
