Author: McCORD, Fred A. Title: Errors in Canadian History Culled from 'Prize Answers'
Description: Montreal, Dawson Brothers, 1880. pp. 45.8vo,,Stitched pamphlet, with minor wear & soiling to paper covers,A very curious pamphlet. It appears that the Montreal newspaper, The Spectator, ran a contest seeking correct answers to 100 questions about Canadian history. The winner was a contestant named 'Hermes', actually Mr. Henry Miles, Jr. the son of 'a well-known Writer of Canadian History'. Hermes published his answers as sort of a primer of Canadian history. It appears that the publishers of The Spectator took exception to this, and issued this pamphlet claiming that at least 20 of Hermes' 100 answers (and, ipso facto, his pamphlet) were erroneous. There is a small portion of the rear paper cover missing, otherwise the pamphlet is still in good, or better, condition. wrappers .
