Box is lined in leather, with velvet bottom panel which pops up when unlocked to present the books inside. Maker's name engraved on inner hinge. Enclosed are the three original red leatherbound journal books. "Cash Accounts" book is blank and shows a split to head of spine; "Visits & Addresses" shows some entries; "Daily Journal" shows pencilled entry to first page only. All three spines darkened where not covered by the clasp. .
