Along with ninety-seven other passengers and the ruthless captain of the ship--in his book, “Seeking the Golden Fleece. ” That volume also contains accounts of Stillman' sojourn in California from 1849-1950 and of his return by way of Nicaraugua to Baltimore. Soon after he landed in San Francisco, he made another trip on a boat across the Sacramento River with three famous Californians - Mark Hopkins, the famed San Franciso hotel owner, A. S.
