It was probably written there by a librarian, not actually a signed copy, as it initally appears to be. There is a cut along the edge next to the title page and the pastedown brown endpaper; it is not known if there was a page cut out or not, it may be an overlap of the brown pastedown. The pastedown has a glued library label. Mrs. Craik, an English novelist, was also known as Miss Mulock, born Dinah Marie Mulock (1826-1887) Book has 262 pages. Blue, decorative cloth boards, edges rubbed. MIss Mulock's Poems written on the spine. Bright gilt edges. Preface states : "Many of these Poems, extending over a period of several years, have appeared anonymously in Chamber's Journal and elsewhere..The present edition in the "Blue and Gold" series contains many pieces not heretofore collected". Contains: Sonnets, Poems Since 1860, etc. Some of the poems are: Philip my King; The Dead Czar; An Honest Valentine; Beatric to Dante and Dante to Beatrice; The Ghost at the Dancing; A Dream of Death; A Dead Sea-Gull Near Liverpool; Semper Fidelis; When Green Leaves come again; A Lancashire Doxology; ; Blue and Gold Series; Ex-Library.
