In the second he describes botanists from the “Wiedererwachen der Wissenschaften” to the French botanist Laurent Antoine de Jussieu, regarding Jussieu and Linneaus as a turning point in the history of botany. In the third and last part of the book, Winckler describes the botanical ideas and thinkers from Laurent Antoine de Jussieu to Winckler's own time.
