Description: 189, [3] pp.First and only edition of an interesting Italian grammar, dedicated to the French Queen Maria de’ Medici. It is one of the earliest manuals specifically intended for book translators, who wished to translate philosophical, theological, legal, literary and scientific texts from Italian into French or vice versa. Next to parts of speech, idiomatic expressions and syntax, it gives much attention to proper pronunciation. The book is finely printed in various Roman and Italic types, and nicely decorated with woodcut headpieces, vignettes and initials.
